Parish Council Newsletter – November 2023
Croxden Parish Council met on Wednesday 8th November making our way in the dark now that the clocks have changed for another winter. Due to recent heavy rain storms there are a number of flooded lanes around the parish. Arrangements have been made to get two drains unblocked and also to investigate a third problem area to see if it can be remedied. If you are experiencing repeated flooding that does not clear within a few hours of a storm, please let a member of the Parish Council know or report direct to Staffordshire County Council Highways Department or The Environment agency.
The three noticeboards have now all been returned after general maintenance and weather proofing and Councillors will give the fence posts at Great Gate Village Green their annual coat of preservative before the end of November and at the same time plant a patch of Lenten Lillies. The postcode labels on defibrillators at Croxden and Beamhurst have been replaced and are now very clear and easy to read in an emergency. Many thanks to Ashmores Ice Cream for their kind donation towards this. The Parish council would like to thank a number of residents who regularly go out in their own time to pick up litter keeping our villages a much nicer place to live. Your efforts are very much appreciated.
The accident on Hollington Road in October has highlighted the hazards of this kinky road which becomes very narrow in some places. This has been brought to the attention of SCC in our continuing effort to reduce the speed limit. A number of avenues are also being explored towards reducing reckless driving through the community at Beamhurst.
Further details about issues mentioned and more can be found in the full meeting minutes at www.croxdenparishcouncil.org and displayed on noticeboards at Croxden, Great Gate and Beamhurst. The next meeting will take place in the Abbey Room, Croxden on Wednesday 10th January 2024 at 7pm. As always, this is a public meeting and we would love to see you and chat over a cuppa or just come along to listen. If you are not familiar with The Abbey Room, it is a small meeting room inside St Giles Church Croxden. Phone numbers for Councillors and email for Mrs Gibson, Parish Clerk, can be found on the website and notice boards should you wish to contact us beforehand.
Until then, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Paul, Nick, John, Marianne and Jackie
