Croxden Parish Council
Serving Beamhurst, Fole and Great Gate
Croxden Parish Council met on 10th January, the first meeting of 2024.
Thank you for reporting to us the many flooding problem areas around our parish. These have been inspected and discussed by the Parish Council and reported to Staffordshire County Council. In the January minutes correspondence area (Ref: 24.01.0012) you will see the SCC contact for flooding is provided, flood.team@staffordshire.gov.uk .
But if the flood is across the road please go to the SCC IT tool at:
https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/Highways/Problems-with-roads/Report-It-explained.aspx
Work on traffic issues across the parish are ongoing. Residents at Beamhurst reported that they have contacted local MP Kate Kniveton to find out if she can help with the speeding and traffic calming issues on the A522.
The Parish council are in the process of populating and launching a newer and more modern website. The new website address is www.croxdenparishcouncil.co.uk . Please note this is only slightly different to the old address which was .org.uk. The new website should be fully functional from mid February onwards. Please go to the new site to see the most recent minutes and notices appearing. You will also find information and contact details of the many local social groups meeting in or nearby our parish such as Rocester Mens Shed and Hollington Friendship Group to name just two. Do take a look, you may be surprised at just how much is going on locally to cheer us through these chilly winter days.
Since their previous meeting in November councillors have been busy planting additional spring bulbs on Great Gate Village Green in response to the positive reception this project received last year from parishioners. The fence posts were treated with preservative on the same day. Lets look forward to the extra ray of sunshine the flowers will bring us in only a few weeks time. Please note, as the Community Parish Walks were such a success last year it was decided that these should continue. This is a great way to get out in the fresh air, meet your neighbours, walk the dog and discover a corner of the parish you may not have visited before. Planning is in progress for a spring walk in April, look out for details on boards and website. In addition the PC hope to launch a Newsletter via email to keep you better informed about their activities, watch out for news on this too.
The next Parish Council meeting will take place on Wednesday 13th March at 7pm in the Abbey Room which is situated at the rear of St Giles Church, Croxden. As always, this is a public meeting so please come along for a chat over a cup of tea, or just to listen. Meantime, take care tossing those pancakes!
Best wishes from Paul, John, Marianne, Nick and Jackie
