Croxden PC – Newsletter – November 2024
Croxden Parish Council
Serving Beamhurst, Fole and Great Gate
Croxden Parish Council met for the regular bimonthly meeting on Wednesday 13th November 2024.
Councillors reported that litter picking kits have been purchased and given to parishioners to assist them with their regular efforts towards keeping Croxden and Beamhurst as litter free as possible. This makes an enormous difference to the cleanliness and appearance of our surroundings and we are very grateful for their continuing work. The Parish Council have also been awarded a grant for the purchase of further kits.
Two Emergency Bleed Kits have been purchased. These will be kept in the defibrillator cabinets located on outside walls at Meachen and Beven, Beamhurst and by the entrance to Croxden Abbey. These contain first aid supplies including a tourniquet to control severe bleeding whilst waiting for an ambulance. Phone 999 to get the access code to the box, an ambulance will be on its way whilst you get to work helping the patient. A community training session is being organised so that you can see how to access and use both the defibrillator and bleed kit quickly and effectively. We will post dates as soon as a trainer and suitable venue have been booked.
Have you looked at your Parish Council website recently?
Councillors would like to draw your attention to the news section. You will find details of a number of public meetings and consultations that require resident input and updates on new facilities which may be of interest. In the last few weeks for instance you have been invited to ‘Have Your Say’ in community consultations on Crime, Fire and Rescue Services, on the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Integrated Care Board and on EV charging in Staffordshire. We need to have our say to secure the service provision that works for us. Also, newly posted, you will find locations of this years’ walk in flu and covid vaccination centres and information on the opening of the new Staffordshire History Centre (incorporating the old William Salt Library) in Eastgate Street Stafford. It is here, for instance, you may find historic details of your property and the land it stands on amongst other things. Take a look now at https://www.croxdenparishcouncil.co.uk
Wild flower plugs have been planted on a section of Great Gate Village Green. We will have to wait until next May to enjoy the blooms but many thanks go to Parish Clerk Ginny Gibson and Councillor Paul Bean who did the back breaking work of sourcing and planting.
